Yes. Give up all VWs forever, the dirtbike and maybe even all my guitar hero shit.

I was in love with the z06, still am. BUT the difference is that this makes me tingle a little more inside.

skeet skeet

Who could ever hate that face??

A pain in the ass to maintain, but I would treat this baby as a golden cow almost. Holy mess, I am in love

LOL. I got a buddy at work that has one of these and 150 shot of nitrous... pretty quick.  Loves to let that rear end go.  Funny thing is he has a blower for it but just too lazy to put it on... has had it sitting around for years!

... regardless of what you pay for it, those things drive so amazingly well!!!

Drove a 928s on a track with track tires once.  Man that was fun!!

Always heard that Porsche claims that to be their best motor.

I hate myself for a lot of reasons, but Im sure when nothng was going wrong with this ride I would be smiling!!!! And GTS's are cool, just too much money. I am looking at something that would be somewhat affordable to buy so I could have the extra 2G's for a clutch when it went bad.

Do you play with star wars action figures and live in your mother's basement?  That's part of the contract you have to sign when buying a 928....  those cars are horrible and everyone who still owns one thinks that its still worth what it cost brand new...  You want a VW buy a VW. but if you want a Porsche buy a real Porsche...

I know of what I speak, but yes - those were lies.

I did used to own one of these, and I do still love them. I will have another someday, and the one I buy will either be a GTS, another 16v Euro-S, or a GT - those are the ones to have. Mine wasn't a headache, and with proper maintenance they'll run for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Nobody who buys these things thinks that they're worth what they cost new. Mine was originally over twenty times more than what I paid for it. 928 values, save for the special versions like the Club Sport, GT, and GTS, plummeted like rocks. They've stabilized somewhat, and some have even started to increase again, but they're still relatively cheap. That's part of what makes these so appealing - in addition to the excellent GT road manners, decent handling and performance for such a heavy car, and near-perfect ergonomics.

...and to answer the obvious question: Yes, I do have Star Wars action figures from when I was a kid; no, I don't play with them.

Those can be so sects from certain angles, but i just can't stand the rear haunches.  The make the car look like a dog dragging his ass on the carpet or something.

but if you want a Porsche buy a real Porsche...

oh i'm so sick of hearing that! i used to work at a porsche shop back in the day. i drove a 944 at the time. i heard the "real porsches are aircooled" comment all the time - ha! they're all watercooled now! i kept up on maintanence. it was in the shop less than the 911's (in fairness the sc's were pretty darn good). it was a very easy car to drive and it had proper weight distribution. i drove it while i lived in the mountains year 'round. it was a great car. the only reason 911's are still rear engined is because of the tradition, not superior design.

the 928 is a different car than a 911. what it does it does very well. it was designed by porsche to be a porsche. it was the best of the best at the time. it still is a very good car even by today's standards. there were many technical and design innovations on that car that were copied and became common place in the years to come. say what you will... but fuhrmann and lapine did an excellent job with the 928.

Any car that Porsche deems fit to receive the crest IS a real Porsche.

The 914, 924, and 944 were very good at their intended purpose - economical sportscars.
The 911 and its permutations are also very good at their purpose - sportscars.
The 928 was (and still is) very good at its intended purpose - grand touring.
The Cayenne is very good at its intended purpose - a very fast and capable SUV.
The 917 was very good at its intended purpose - domination of endurance racing.
The Boxter is very good at its intended purpose - a nimble, economical, and fun roadster.
And so on...

My point is this: Porsche doesn't do things by halves. If they do something, they aim to do it right, and they don't allow "just anything" to leave the factory with a Porsche badge adorning the hood. If a vehicle is good enough for the engineers at Weissach to call it a Porsche, then who are any of us to deride them?

Im just bitter because I spend day in and day out working on them and i've seen what some backwoods mechanics and rigged to these things...  You have your reasons why you love them and as an American you have that right (for the next few months). I have my reasons why I dont like them.  They do serve their purpose as what they were intended for and yes I am one of those "Purist" people who believe real Porsche's handle like ass and have horrible weight distribution and laugh at the other idiots who have water running through their engines.  I am a big fan of the newer cars and well a Cayenne turbo S is just a bit of overkill...  I was being sarcastic making the Star wars statement thats just a joke that gets past around the few dealerships ive worked at.  I wasnt taking any shots at anyone...  944's and 951's are great track cars I wont deny that one bit.  But seriously im gonna be bold about this... The 928 I dont care what It can do it is seriously ugly as fuck!   I dont care if it had 1000bhp I still wouldnt want one... lol Thats my opinion and sorry if I stepped on any toes with my comments dont mind me im just a bitter grumpy bastard...

He is 100% correct.  There are a lot of people who are saying that the cayman chassis is far far superior to the 911 chassis, and for obvious reasons.  Porsche probably knows this and thats why they gimp the engine choices on it.  Could you imagine a cayman RS, basically a weight reduced, with a version of the GT3 RS engine, it would probably be one of the best handling and fastest lapping production cars ever made.

Porsche will never do this because it would cannibalize sales of 911's.
