i don't disagree with the fact that there is a bit of enjoyment in poking fun of others for their decisions in vehicles. they all get their fair share - how many vw owners have had fun with "ricers".  ;D i don't have a problem with that at all. but a 928 is still a porsche as much as a 911 or cayenne.

as a designer i really like the shape of the 928. i also appreciate the impact it made on the automotive world. that's my opinion though. i also think the cayenne and cayman both are pretty ugly, but they got approved to build and seem to sell pretty well.

i'll get an aircooled 911 sometime. i've driven a few of the older ones and there is just something addictive about them. they are more of a challenge to drive fast that's for sure. 8)

I love how the 928 looks, and to ME the only better looking porsches are way out of my league. the Carerra GT? Hah yes!! AND the 928 was ahead of its time. And I love the fact that porsche was willing to dive in and try something exciting. Besides, have you guys looked at any of the videos of these things?

I saw one of these at the dealership in for service once.....  Even if you have the money(half a mil) it's still difficult to get it legalized stateside. There are VERY few of them in the world and just a handful in the states to my understanding. Seinfeld probably owns one.

Naw, I see the 924 as the poor man's Porsche.

Also, my brother had an 87 944 turbo in amazing shape.  He ended up trading it for a 96 Cobra because the girl he was dating liked Mustangs.

I imagine the 944 NA is the weakest of the porshe family.

Try a 924 then.

Bruce Canepa has a nice little collection of legalized 959s, out in California.

I've never seen one of those with the headlights on/up. It looks comical, almost like a bug-eyed-sprite.

Roflmao, me too.  It definitely looks kinda slapped together.  I guess they were going for tradition, but man, the headlights up look is just bizarre.

They were going for aerodynamics. Remember that the 928 program was started in the early 1970s, large round headlights were the most efficient/best available at the time, and pop-ups afforded the best aero properties.

i think its pretty cool looking. i loved the bug eyed sprite BTW. id like to have a Porsche and if i were to get one it would be a 928. but id probably be in jail cause it would be faster than the corrado and i already almost lost my licence in the rado.

also barry I'll give you a dollar for your soul..lol

Last I had heard Seinfeld was up to three of them..  He did however sell "#1"  to a fellow new yorker.  #1 was the first production 911 to ever hit the states and was worth quite the pretty penny.  Porsche did originally designed the car differently but when it was offered it was way faster then the 911 was.  They de-tuned it and sold it as is.  RUF now makes a supercharger kit and full suspension package which makes its go around the track almost as fast as a gt3 rs can.  That can be yours for a mere $121K.  Back in the day when the 944's and the 928s came out they were the new flagship vehicles and the poor mans car was the 911.  In my eyes thats sad to say i am and always will be a 911 guy.  But if those German bastards would finally do employee leasing I would snag up a cayman S  in a heartbeat.  28mpg and one hell of a daily driver.  But last time i brought one home I was smoking on the front porch and overheard some guys fat nasty girlfriend going off about keying it because what kind of rich asshole would drive a Porsche... ::)

I saw a Cayenne GTS or GT3 or something the other day. Not quite sure what the point of it is, unless you're some small-dicked dude who needs a monster vehicle that screams "I have lots of money" and you like to tell everyone just how much hp you have. The front brakes had to be close to 15".

911 turbos were always my fav. porsches too. I love the whaletails and round headlights. Kinda like the front end of my fastback.

It was a Cayenne GTS.  And they are actually really nice.  Its just a special edition they did for the cayenne models.  You get sport seats with suede, 405hp, a louder exhaust note, bigger turbo brakes and 21 inch wheels standard.  There's a few mote bits and pieces i cant remember off the top of my head o and they sit 54mm lower then your standard cayenne.  Id buy one in a heart beat and will in a few years when the old lady pops a few out of her...
