Avus Performance has just whipped the cover off their pumped up Audi TT-RS, a 460 horsepower, matte black self-described "Ur-Quattro" for the new millennium. While it evoking the legendary Quattro Coupe might be a bit of marketing hyperbole, it similarly features a turbocharged inline-five and should perform spectacularly well. Heck, it could probably give the Sport Quattro rally cars a run for their money. We wouldn't dare compare it to the S1, though. Still, this version of the already-hot TT-RS is positively smoking.

Even in stock form, the turbo-five in the TT-RS puts put out a healthy 340 horses, enough to scoot it from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. By the time Avus finishes tinkering with it, however, their uprated TT-RS produces 460 hp and 472 lb/ft. Credit for the 30% horsepower boost comes via turbo and ECU tweaks, along with a new free-flow exhaust system with racing cats. So-equipped, the coupe's 0-60 time tumbles to just 3.8 seconds and top speed rises to 194 mph. Forget the Ur, that makes it about as quick as the R8 V10 5.2 FSI.

Thankfully, Avus' makeover isn't just confined to the engine bay. The tuner adds adjustable coilovers and a set of gloss black 20-inch Sportec Mono wheels wrapped in chunky 255/30-20 Hankook S1 Evo rubber. Said another way, they ought to do a whole lot more than just look pretty. Handling has been improved, yet so has the ride quality thanks to the adjustable suspension, say company officials. That added tweakability should allow one to maximize performance on track days without totally grenading everyday comfort.

The whole package minus the horsepower boost runs about 9,700 Euro (around $14,300). Avus asks that you contact them for specific pricing on the engine mods.

Press Release:

Audi TT-RS – The new "Ur-Quattro"

October 2009 - Latest creation from AVUS PERFORMANCE is something special for all Audi fans, especially
those who remember the Ur-Quattro with its blistering 5 cyl. turbo sound. The remake by Audi is
better known as the TT-RS which shares the engine and of course the sound.

With a stock power of 340bhp and 332 lb/ft of torque it is capable of doing the 0-60 in 4.6s.
AVUS PERFORMANCE takes it a step forward and improves the power and the look of the TT-RS.
Adjustable coilovers, gloss black 20" Sportec Mono wheels make the TT-RS look much more
aggressive. Thanks to the special setup which improves the factory suspension even further and
makes the TT run a lot smoother not only on country roads. Different setups for the race track are
avaiable either.

The matt black skin is something you will probably notice first when seeing the TT-RS. True to the
motto „Gloss is out, matt is IN" tuner AVUS PERFORMANCE changes it to matt black (other colors
avaiable on request). To give the TT-RS the final touch for the race track power has been increased significantly to a stunning 460bhp and more than 472 lb/ft of torque. 0-60 will be passed in about 3.8s and top speed increases to 194mph. Therefore AVUS PERFORMANCE modifies the turbo, ECU software and the exhaust system from turbo back with racing cats.

Attention, latest Sportec offer until 15th of December: Buy 4 wheels and pay only 3 (25% Discount)

- matt black „vinyl" – 1.999 Euro
- coilovers – 1.299 Euro
- modified ECU + exhaust system (460bhp / 472lb/ft) – price on request
- gloss black 20" wheels with 255/30/20 Hankook S1 Evo – 6.400 Euro

I heart the matte-black. That's probably the only TT that I've ever really liked...

Yeah, I love matte black as well.  I haven't seen a car in that color that I haven't liked.  It does look good on that TT.  I'm really not fond of the TT in general just because I test drove one a few years ago and I was just too big for the car and could not get comfortable despite how much I adjusted the seat (I'm 6'2" 205 lbs)

Looks great for a TT. Unfortunately the roof line leading into the trunk has always turned me off of TTs, especially the first generation. It's always been too bubbly and every time I see one it reminds me  of a New Beetle that has had the top chopped two inches. If they were to square off the roof line right behind the seats I think it would improve the aesthetics of the car dramatically by giving the back end of the side profile some definition.
