If you have fiber optic service to your house you can get upwards of 20mbs with Qwest.

7mbps up? Didn't see that. Maybe that's from his work?

Post your speed results from this site http://www.speedtest.net/

Here's mine. Down's not too shabby, but the upload sucks right now. Still, not bad for Qwests cheapest service.

its been a long time since I last tested my crimecast connection... my modem is old enough that it only supports 6mb down.  I want to say my last speed test was in the area of 6.8mb down and 1.5mb up. My plan is either 10mb or 12mb down... I just have never gotten around to buying a new modem.  I've been keeping the faster plan for the upload speeds, especially helpful when your gaming and running a web/ftp server.

Looks like you'd be better off using your cell phone as a modem, or picking up a mobile broadband card for your computer.

I am thinking about changing to the Verizon hot spot.... Only problem I have with that is that you can't route something like that... I am trying to maintain somewhat of a household network, and my wireless router has a pretty good coverage area....

With a desktop with usb, a network card and a router, you should be able to set up a wireless network.  Just share the internet from the desktop with the VZW card in it.

I have had MASSIVE success with Zyxel products.  They aren't really well known in the consumer market, but they make some seriously good hardware, and I am running their wireless -G router at my house right now.  It is dual homed so you can have a primary SSID and a "guest" SSID that allows people to get online, but with whatever restrictions you choose to set for them.  The menus are very robust, and I think I have only reset this thing one time in a year and a half, and that was only because my cable modem locked up so I just unplugged both of them together.  I download/ upload LOTS of stuff on a daily basis (somewhere in the range of 5 gigs per day) and this thing has not skipped a beat.

I use their NBG334W router, but the current version is wireless -N and it is the NBG419N, here is a link:

Here is the link to the one I currently use:

Oh, and I use at least 75 things made by this company at work. We use them to route commercial TV signals, and lots of other stuff, and it is rock solid!
