North Breakfast GTG
« on: December 29, 2009, 07:36:28 AM »

Hey guys,

New here and pretty muuch in general to the VW set. But, I recently joined up with Union - was a member at MD but the admins there are a couple of douchebags so, moved on. Anyway, I've been talking with Erik - I'm sure most of you know him and the 1609 gang - and we were talking about GTG's and I was wondering if any of the 719 crew would have interest in coming up for a Saturday morning breakfast GTG?? This would be for us totalk about future stuff and offers a great opportunity for everone to bring family along - no drunken burnouts and other nonsense. Oh, and here is a pic of my ride

Interest????

Alittle advice....

Alot of 719 guys are a part of Metrodubs, and vise-versa. We all share a common bond and interest in an already fairly small Colorado based VW scene. You may want to re-think posting your personal opinion about Metrodubs in an open forum.

With that said....

Welcome to Edition 719. Hope you get a good turn out at your breakfast gtg.  :t-up:

Yeah, thanks. I'm aware, that's why I posted here. I'm also aware that, at least in private circles, many share the same sentiments I posted. Most of the guys I've met there were pretty cool. But, when a board allows open attacks and general BS and that actual BS is openly coming from the admins, don't have much concern or respect for the board in general. I'm more interested in engaging with true enthusiasts vs. sitting in front of a computer and talking smack for the sake of talking smack. If that doesn't work here, sorry for bothering you guys!!

Enjoy your holidays!!!!!

Yeah.... I hear ya man.

When I lived in Colorado, I didnt visit too many websites very often besides this one.... I tried to be in the mix of things in person, with my cars...

I don't log onto Metrodubs very often, so I am not up to speed with the current intraweb based drama going on over there, but I still come on here fairly frequently, and I think we do a pretty good job around here staying netrually biased and keeping the personal attacks off of the boards.

Again,

No hard feelings from me.... Hope you get to know the Springs guys, because even though most of them come off as assholes, they are all pretty good guys once you get to know them.

Met a couple of them a few weeks back - again, kinda my reason for posting up here!!! Based soley on the cars I saw, you guys seem to be entusiasts. I think that is what a car forum should be about. As you mentioned, the VW set is already pretty small, further alienating members for the sake of wanting to impress a few 17 year old kids doesn't so much for me. And, I would rather they come off as assholes and that changes after getting to know them. My expereince on the other forum - at least as it pertains to a few - has been just the other way around!!!! LOL

Ayway, thanks again for the welcome!!!!

We try to be enthusiasts here, but I think we may have a few alcoholics also... haha

Welcome aboard! I slip over on the MD forums when Im chillin and Ive never head any problems with them. Anyhow we try to not have any drama on here.

SO with that being said, what saturday were you planning on having a breakfast shindig? Sometime after new years hopefully!

Yep, after the New year. I'm working it our on the Union board (I know some of you guys must know Erik??). Anyway, hoping for a turnout to initially discuss events and GTG's for 2010. We're talking about meeting up first to do some intros and see how our vision might align. I've spoken already to a few vendors about support and group buys, deals, discounts, etc. All have been supportive and willing to participate. I will be throwing some time, money and effort into the venture in hopes of spraking things. I have a large client base around the Country/World and many could be called upon for some type of support. I'm talking with some Calif (Orange County) euro people to maybe pull together a rally with a central meeting spot. So, just a few things in the pipe. Hope you all may have input and interest. Please poke your head in and say hello and offer some support!!!!

Thanks!!

Drew

With what? an 8v with a blown head gasket or are you shoehorning something else in? BTW, I have an OBD1 VR6 harness you can have. ;)

Nice to meet you Drew. I keep thinking that one of these days I'll expand my horizons and check out the Denver boards, but it's warm and fuzzy here. I'm not much of a morning person, so I hope this breakfast is more of a brunch, especially if it's on the north end of Denver. Keep us posted and I'll try to make this.

Drew,
I would take the advice of Barry above and really not even mention that crap about Metrodubs....I dont know what drama you had over there, I have known those guys for awhile and there are a lot of legit "enthusiasts" like you call them....

The 719 crew is the best though, even though i moved to golden/denver area...i still miss the guy over there.....and the scene....and even though i am not one of the alcoholic ones....

So just make sure you dont call out anyone on here, mainy bc people frequent both boards...and well.like barry said....esp since you have a car detailing business...you reallyshould just remain neutral.

Jon Baker is the admin over there, and he is a good guy, and means well..so again, i dont know were you came to the conclusion that metrodubs is full of drama...

But anyway....

David is right...there could be a few potential AA members in here....we should join AA and dubs together and have an AA dubs springs cruise or something!

Dave,  I cant wait to race that truck!
oh and Brandon.....th at mk2 wont beat me on a skateboard..lo l..remember i destroyed you with my rental HYUNDAI auto sonata...lol
