WTB Carbureted 2 barrel 8V intake Manifold
« on: January 09, 2010, 06:23:25 PM »

Just like it says - want a manifold for any non-crossflow 8V for a 2 barrel carb setup.   Basically, a carbureted intake manifold from a watercooled 1973-78 Audi/VW.

Danke

Heh.  Nothing.  Yet.  If I can get my hands on a Fox wagon, I've got a few ideas using some of the pieces from Brazil that those guys use quite a bit.

Basically, using their turbo manifold setup, and they go non-intercooled, right up into the carburetor.  On alcohol, it works great.

Now, a 2 barrel progressive weber (like the kind that bolt on with a normal adapter on a 8V carb mani) has the same bolt pattern as the progressive throttle body (really).  So, I could use most of the same parts, and be fuel injected instead of carbureted and use water-injection instead of an intercooler.

interesting idea.... an upward facing throttlebody, but getting the linkage and throttle cabling figured out is going to be a bitch.

No no no.  Simply replace the carb with a throttle body.  Here - like this.  That way the linkage is close to stock for a carb.

Depends.  If its EFI stock, I will megasquirt it.  If its CIS, I'll prolly just use an EIC.

Ah - I remember seeing it.  Used the IHI turbo, I believe.  I'd be happy to.  WOrking another deal on a Fox right now, but everything I'm trying to sell has fallen through in the last 3 wks so  I don't have the cash for it yet!

I have a manifold I THINK will work, otherwise I know of some for decent $$ from Brazil (where they build these up so much).
