No one is bitching about the KURS system in F1 being a poor concept.  If I had a button in my car that could be pressed to release another 10-20% of power for acceleration bursts, I would be in favor of it.  If it was a 'green' button, so much the better.

I guess I just don't like it because it is the last untouched thing left in the concept of the cars we all originally fell in love with when we were still sitting in car-seats. Everything from automatic/DSG type trannys to traction/stability/ABS has taken the raw man/machine feel out of the modern auto. I know I sure as hell never got exited about thinking of a Porsche with electric motors on it. I got excited about thinking of an ICE with turbos bolted to it and the sound it made when you were climbing through the gears. All this electric gizmondry might help them get around the track quicker, but then again so would putting them on a train style track and pressing a "go" button. They keep taking the human aspect out of racing. A few more years and most race car drivers won't know what the hell a clutch is or how to heel/toe. Just my opinion.

Eh, its all relative. 

When we were little, fuel injection, syncronized transmissions, independant suspension and all that crap was new.  Older people then scoffed at it.  I think its just new stuff to hot rod differently.  They'll be plenty of internal combustion engines around for a long time.  Shit - FIVE of my Eight 4-wheeled vehicles are carbureted.   Says more about me than the times, but still... 


Just for grins - those 5 vehicles use 14 barrels of carburetion, too.  =)
