In place of a tap you can try dousing the hole in WD40 and "work" a bolt in. Turn the bolt a 1/4 turn in and out until the threads you are currently working feel good and then move into deeper threads. Depending on how deep you need to go you might need to remove the bolt and rinse/lube with more WD40.

Just out of curiosity, why are you switching to manual brakes? Everything is looking great so far on it. I can't wait to see it running again.

manual brakes make for a cleaner, lighter engine bay. lightweight makes me happy inside  ;D  I'll try the wd 40 thing today.

I've got lots of taps - what's the thread?  8x1.25mm?

What I used to do before I bought taps was to take an old bolt, and cut out a few sections so it kinda looks like a tap.  Then it works awesome to clean out threads.  Not the best to cut new threads, but thats not what your doing.

I actually have some cylinder head bolts with really big reliefs cut into them, to clean out head bolt threads.

i used smokestack's way, took a while kinda, but it worked. engine is in the bay, suspension removed... now i get to figure out digifant wiring... seems fairly easy to be honest.

what the flip?? where'd that snail come from!

Not to be a rude ass.... but it looks to me like the turbo is bolted on the manifold upside down. Shouldnt the exhaust be on the driver side so your downpipe can point in a exit like direction?

that turbo setup is made for a mkII, i wanted to see if it would fit in the bay upside down, and it does. unfortunately it is in the way of the shift linkages, the center section would have to be clocked 180, different DP, etc. probably just gonna sell it because i dont count on owning a mk2 any time soon. the only way i could run it is if i could use shift cables on the o2o.

Hey, I am curious - did you try fitting the Turbo setup right side up?  Did it hit the strut tower?

stupid, but not pointless....

it keeps the rain/snow/sand/gravel and whatever other shit CO decides to throw on the winter roads out of your flywheel/clutch assembly... you can find them all over the place at A1... look for one with a good rubber/foam piece on it as well, so it seals up good.

Unless of course this is not going to be your daily driver, and wont face the elements.... then you can look at it as weight reduction....

Oh yeah.... you will be able to list that as a mod on your next intro post too

When did you get headers? (Those the ones Greg had for sale?)
Sergey, take a loooong look at this thread, along with a several other threads in here. This is how you mod a car. generally you take shit OFF before you add a mod. Headers? Mod Hooking a computer to your fat ass chick car? not even close.
