fuel door switch
« on: February 28, 2010, 08:24:41 PM »

anyone heard of a fuel door switch going out?  Over the last few weeks I've noticed that I have to caress the switch just right before itll pop the fuel door.  First time it happened I was out in the middle of no where trying to get gas and it was freezing out..I came so close to just prying open the door and worrying about the damage later, but luckily I decided to fiddle with the switch patiently until it popped.

It's most reliable when I turn the car completely off, open the drivers door, and then repeatedly cycle the switch.  Usually works with the first 2-5 cycles, but I've had to wait upwards of 5 minutes (how ever many cycles that is...).   :banghead:  I've looked, but I can't seem to find a manual/emergency release (which I think is a no brainer to have, especially with dubs having those pesky electrical gremlins).

Is it the same one that's in the GTI?  If so, I've got one I'm not using anymore...

Hey sorry for the late reply.  According to etka it's the same part number.  1J0 959 833 A  If you still have it I'd gladly take it off your hands.
