I have a dilemma
« on: May 15, 2009, 12:03:32 PM »

Ok. So I need input here... After about 3 weeks of my car breaking every time I drive it, We figured out that my charger is the issue. The shaft that connects the pulley to the charger is super loose on the x axis, and if you torque down the belt on top of that from the y axis it creates a wobble that throws my belt and shreds it off when downshifting or at high rpms. Quite frankly, I am tired of finding out that what I thought was done right on my car by the previous owner was done horribly wrong at every turn in this build.

So my options are this: Spend the money to get the head unit rebuilt and installed, and at the end of the day still have a car with 120k on the clock

OR

Sell the car to someone with patience or some highschool kid with too much money (it still runs fine, I'm just limited to ~4psi which is hella lame) and buy a 24v jetta to start a turbo build.

I'm torn!

THe issue I had was w/ my waterpump... the blower was putting too much tension on the pulley and caused it warp/snap. Got the billet gruven pulley and Im all set :t-up:
Another thing I should point out is the v9 tends to have more issues crop up than the v1/v2 which i have.  They used the v9 on the mk4 kits due to space constraints and it kinda sucks.

Hmm nah I wish it was my waterpump! Thanks for the advice though. If I take something and place it in between the charger and the pulley and then pry a little bit it slides all over the place. I've been through like four belts in the past two weeks  :t-down:

I just hate to spend MORE money on this thing when no matter what I do it is getting real old. Ugh I can't make up my mind!

Yeah it is probably about a grand worth of fixing... And 2 weeks of shipping and waiting. I DID get a smokin' deal on it, could probably make a 1-2000 profit if I sold it to some chump.

Edition mk2/mk4 R32 with a dash of other VAG products forum.  ;D

Buy a beater mk2 for 500-1000, but don't sell your car for less than what you want. You'd be better off fixing it than taking a hit on the price.
